About this role
Bricklaying is a core function within the construction sector, especially in house building and refurbishments. As an Apprentice Bricklayer, you will learn to lay bricks, blocks, and other building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and chimney stacks. You will also refurbish brickwork, masonry, and seal foundations with damp resistant materials.
You will read construction drawings, measure work areas, set out sites, and prepare mortar by hand or mechanical mixer. Erect, repair, and maintain masonry structures while shaping bricks with hammers, chisels, and power tools. Check courses are plumb and level using laser levels, spirit levels, and plumb lines.

The CITB training covers developing good working relations and potential to work towards SVQ level 6 & 7. No formal qualifications required, but candidates undertake pre-employment assessment and interview. Paid national apprentice minimum wage for working hours plus college attendance.

- Live in a North Lanarkshire postcode
- Potential to work at SCQF level 6/7
- Ability and desire to learn skills, technology, and safety procedures
- Strong communication skills
- Establish and maintain good customer/client relationships
- Undergo pre-employment assessment and entrance test
- Progress to interview for final selection
