BELFOR

West Columbia, US · Full-time · $35,000 – $45,000

About this role

This position provides operational support in reconstruction efforts for clients, grounded in the fundamentals of carpentry and tool usage. The primary learning mode is on-the-job training through experience and interaction with intermediate and advanced carpenters.

Day-to-day tasks include moving and protecting contents without damage, constructing appropriate containment for dust and airborne contaminants, and performing floodcutting, salvaging, and labeling of baseboards, cabinets, and doors. The role also involves developing proficiency in insulation installation and learning framing, trim, and cabinetry under supervision.

Basic Carpenters work under the direction of experienced carpenters and supervisors, coordinating small crews of unskilled laborers on most residential projects. They must maintain attention to detail, safeguard property, and perform daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections.

This position is level 2 in the Progressive Carpenter track, with three development levels: improving supervisory skills, becoming increasingly competent with tools and equipment, and developing a basic understanding of field operations specific to the restoration industry. The role requires working under time constraints, nights and weekends as requested, and periodic travel.
