As a Union Carpenter, you will be responsible for building and repairing forms and structures on a variety of projects. Your day-to-day work involves constructing, erecting, and dismantling concrete forms, wood frameworks, and structural components across commercial, infrastructure, and institutional job sites.

Requirements

  • Union membership or willingness to join the carpenters union
  • Experience in commercial or industrial carpentry
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed instructions
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools common to the carpentry trade
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work on feet for extended periods
  • Commitment to safety protocols and quality workmanship
  • Reliable transportation to job sites in the Chicago area

Responsibilities

  • Build and repair forms and structures for concrete work
  • Construct, erect, and dismantle wood frameworks and scaffolding
  • Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plywood, and other materials
  • Install doors, windows, hardware, and finish carpentry elements
  • Operate hand and power tools safely on active construction sites
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and quality
