About this role

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking an Asphalt Plant Operator for our Schmidt Construction location in Castle Rock, CO. The Operator will operate both the plant and loader to batch materials and produce hot mix asphaltic concrete, with a pay range of $30 to $35 per hour.

Daily tasks include controlling the heating, drying, and mixing of ingredients, monitoring computer panels for accurate readings, and adjusting screens and conveyors to maintain uniform flow. The operator also examines machinery for safety and maintenance concerns, ensures bins and stockpiles are well stocked, and discharges appropriate tonnage into customer trucks safely.

In conjunction with the Operations Manager, the operator helps determine personnel and schedules to meet customer requirements and coordinates appropriate timing for maintenance and repairs. The role involves assisting maintenance personnel with repairs and following all company safety and environmental procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience safely operating and maintaining industrial equipment such as asphalt plant controls, loader, skid-steer, and man-lift
  • Ability to follow all Safety and Environmental Procedures
  • Knowledge of asphalt plant equipment, production process, and mix designs (preferred)
  • Knowledge of materials and specification requirements
  • Basic computer skills
  • Mechanical, welding, and fabrication skills
  • Willingness to have a flexible work schedule
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Control the heating, drying, and mixing of ingredients such as asphalt, sand, stone, and specified additives to produce quality asphalt paving materials
  • Monitor computer panels and provide accurate readings regarding machinery operation to ensure conformance to processing specifications
  • Adjust equipment such as screens and conveyors to control product size or maintain uniform flow of materials within specifications
  • Examine machinery for safety and maintenance concerns and identify sources of malfunctions
  • Ensure that bins and stockpiles are kept well stocked and prioritized correctly
  • Observe environmental factors to ensure emission control devices operate properly
  • In conjunction with Operations Manager, help determine personnel and schedules to meet daily customer requirements and coordinate maintenance and repairs
  • Discharge appropriate tonnage safely into correct customer trucks
