About this role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the building and construction industry. The role involves managing tendering and quantity surveying activities while ensuring compliance with company governance. You will lead the bid process and prepare accurate costings for projects up to £5M.

Day-to-day duties include preparing detailed estimates and Bills of Quantities, managing monthly CVR reports, and negotiating with supply chain partners. You will coordinate bid contributors across the business and oversee interim applications for payment along with final accounts to maintain strong cash flow.

Working collaboratively across Cormac and wider Corserv divisions, you will liaise with Business Directors on tender figures and represent the company at client meetings. The position requires a proactive approach to balancing commercial priorities with operational needs in a construction environment.

This role supports strategic growth through industry insight and process improvement as part of Cormac’s four-year commercial plan. You will champion health, safety, and environmental best practices while acting as an ambassador for the business at tender interviews.

Requirements

  • Degree or HNC (minimum) in a construction-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in estimating and quantity surveying within construction (refurbishment and new build).
  • Strong knowledge of tendering, procurement, and bid management processes.
  • Experience preparing and managing CVRs, outturn forecasts, and project financials.
  • Excellent understanding of NEC and JCT contract forms and standard methods of measurement.
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrable success in client and stakeholder relationship management.
  • CSCS card and full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the management, planning, and production of innovative, solution-led tenders to drive business success.
  • Prepare detailed costings, estimates, and Bills of Quantities for tenders up to £5M in value.
  • Manage monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and financial forecasts.
  • Coordinate bid contributors across the business and ensure submissions meet governance and quality standards.
  • Negotiate with supply chain partners to secure competitive pricing.
  • Oversee interim applications for payment, valuations, and final accounts to ensure strong cash flow.
  • Liaise with Business Directors to agree on final tender figures and submit compliant returns.
  • Act as an ambassador for Cormac Construction at tender interviews and client meetings.
