We are a Mechanical and Electrical services contractor seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support our Commercial Team within our Head Office in Solent (Fareham). You will support Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers responsible for delivering fast track multi-million-pound projects.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of M&E projects by assisting with cost reporting, subcontractor payments, valuations, variations, procurement, and maintaining accurate commercial records. Working closely with the Commercial team, you'll gain hands-on experience across all stages of the project lifecycle, from design through installation to maintenance.

Requirements

HNC/HND/BSc in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline (or currently working towards this qualification).
Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with confidence in dealing directly with clients and design teams.
Commercially aware, with good attention to detail and a proactive, enterprising approach.
Highly motivated, willing to learn and develop, and able to take responsibility when required.
A real passion for the M&E industry.

Responsibilities

Support the commercial team with activities throughout the design and pre-construction phases, including assisting with the preparation of AMP (Absolute Maximum Price) tender submissions.
Work closely with the design, pre-construction and estimating teams to ensure effective commercial support is provided.
Assist with the review of client contracts and subcontract documentation under the guidance of senior team members.
Support the procurement process, including obtaining quotations and preparing subcontract documentation for specialist subcontractors.
Assist with the preparation and submission of monthly interim valuations and the management of variations.
Prepare subcontractor payment applications and maintain accurate commercial records in line with contractual requirements.
Support the agreement of subcontractor variations and final accounts.
Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial reports and cost reporting.
