About this role
Great Place Construction, a private firm specializing in commercial design/build projects, is seeking a skilled commercial tradesman to join their busy and growing team. This full-time, year-round position offers a Monday through Friday schedule with no weekend work.
Work includes fitting and installing window frames, doors, and trim using levels and lasers. Reading blueprints and building plans helps determine project dimensions and materials. You will shape materials with hand tools and power saws, erect scaffolding, and assemble wooden frameworks.
Travel is within one to two hours of Sioux Falls with paid travel time in company vehicles. The firm seeks reliable, skilled commercial construction tradesmen who are hardworking and bring various construction skill sets. Training is provided for those lacking certain skills.

Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong math skills
- Reliable and good attitude
- 2-4 years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry
- Ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans, and other specifications
- Strong working knowledge of job site safety and a strong desire to follow safety rules
Responsibilities
- Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, and interior/exterior trim using carpenter’s levels, plumb bobs, and laser levels.
- Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels.
- Read blueprints, sketches, and building plans to prepare project layouts and determine required dimensions and materials.
- Shape and cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, and power saws.
- Build and repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures using woodworking machines, hand tools, and power tools.
- Assemble and fasten materials to construct frameworks and props using hand tools, screws, nails, dowel pins, and glue.
- Inspect ceiling and floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, and woodwork for damage.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean worksite.
