About this role
Qualus is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to join our Program Management department, ensuring constructability meets our high standards of quality for each assigned project. This role focuses on transmission, substation, and distribution line projects in and around the Hartford, CT area.
Day-to-day, you will aggressively manage and inspect multiple electric contractor crews, facilitating the installation of electric infrastructure while enforcing safety standards and regulatory compliance. You will coordinate permits, manage system outages, and verify key unit quantities to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
This position involves frequent coordination with customers, contractor supervision, and third-party utilities to ensure smooth construction sequencing and site readiness. You will conduct weekly safety audits, document job changes, and communicate job status to facilitate scheduling commitments.
At Qualus, you will drive performance objectives for cycle time and cost while overseeing a team of Construction Managers. This role offers the opportunity to work on critical power infrastructure projects in a collaborative environment focused on safety and quality.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of company work, environmental, and safety practices, including working knowledge of electric operations.
- Qualified to request/hold transmission and distribution clearances and manage/coordinate a crew of several Construction Managers.
- 20+ years of experience in electrical construction.
- In-depth knowledge of materials, construction standards, OSHA regulations, and safety requirements for electric transmission and substation construction.
- Proficiency with AS8, Atlas, Mobile Maps, and MS Office Suite.
- Proximity to the Hartford, Connecticut area.
Responsibilities
- Aggressively manages and inspects day-to-day activities of multiple electric contractor crews for transmission, substation, or distribution line projects.
- Facilitates installation of electric infrastructure, ensuring safety standards, company construction standards, and governmental regulations are met.
- Manages work to ensure performance objectives for cycle time and cost are on target.
- Coordinates with customers at the jobsite to determine specific requirements, construction sequencing, and site readiness verification.
- Performs weekly safety audits of crews and documents performance in the Asset Suite Safety Audit/Observation Tool.
- Coordinates permits and work-with requirements with third-party utilities and permit agencies.
- Schedules and coordinates all required electric system outages and communicates job changes to appropriate parties.
- Verifies key unit quantities and reviews contractor documents for accuracy and completeness.
