WIN Waste Innovations is seeking an Assistant Plant Operator who is confident, enthusiastic, and responsible. This role involves operating boilers and auxiliary plant equipment locally throughout the plant, making necessary adjustments to maintain safe, efficient, and continuous operations while adhering to environmental regulations.
Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting the Plant Operator in daily field operations and maintenance, investigating changes in instrument readings and equipment operation, and notifying the Plant Operator or Shift Supervisor of any operational inconsistencies. The role also requires making required turbine/generator APC and other critical inspections regularly, recognizing and mitigating operating difficulties, and adapting to changing plant conditions to maximize safety and efficiency.
The Assistant Plant Operator works closely with the Plant Operator and Shift Supervisor in a positive work environment, communicating effectively with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers, and management. The position involves maintaining work areas in a clean, neat, and orderly condition at all times and completing the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the prescribed timeframe.
This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in power plant operations, including operating all aspects of the demineralization and APC systems, performing water testing and chemical adjustments, and troubleshooting equipment issues with maintenance. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree or equivalent is desirable
- 2 years working in a power plant operation or 3 years related experience
- Mechanical skills sufficient to perform varied mechanical tasks such as replacement of shear pins, valve repacking, and equipment inspections
- Knowledge and understanding of the operation of a steam generating power plant
- Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies
- For Massachusetts: must hold a Massachusetts 3rd Engineer's License and Massachusetts Hoisting License 1D / 2C, or ability to obtain these licenses within 9 months of hire
Responsibilities
- Assist the Plant Operator in daily operation and maintenance of the plant in the field
- Investigate changes in instrument readings and equipment operation, notifying Plant Operator or Shift Supervisor of inconsistencies
- Make required turbine/generator APC and other critical inspections regularly, recognizing and mitigating operating difficulties
- Document on log comments that facilitate problem tracking, work to be performed, and other plant activities to communicate plant status
- Operate all aspects of the demineralization system, performing water testing and chemical adjustments using knowledge of boiler water chemistry
- Operate all aspects of the APC system safely and accurately, adjusting system performance to meet or exceed facility average
- Maintain work areas in a clean, neat, and orderly condition at all times
- Complete the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the prescribed timeframe
