About this role

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor at Schindler, you will lead the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality elevator and escalator solutions. You will oversee all aspects of cost control, contract administration, and commercial risk management to support the business in achieving its financial and operational objectives.

Your day-to-day work includes allocating workloads, setting clear objectives, and monitoring team performance. You will prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans while ensuring compliance with company policies and UK legislation such as NEC and JCT contracts.

You will act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders on commercial and contractual matters. Building strong relationships with consultants, suppliers, and internal teams supports collaborative project delivery in a positive team environment.

The role involves identifying process improvements, resolving disputes, and reporting regularly to senior management on team performance and commercial risks. You will also support recruitment, onboarding, and the professional development of team members.

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
  • Chartered status with RICS or equivalent professional body is highly desirable
  • Significant experience in a senior quantity surveying role, preferably within the construction or building services sector
  • Proven track record of managing commercial aspects of complex, high-value projects
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, standard forms of contract such as NEC and JCT, and commercial procedures
  • Proven track record of operational QS know-how within the Construction industry managing multiple multi-million-pound projects and service contracts
  • Demonstrate experience of estimating project costs and presenting high quality tender documents to customers
  • Demonstrate experience of managing Health & Safety compliance including CDM requirements

Responsibilities

  • Allocate workloads, set clear objectives, and monitor team performance to ensure project and business goals are met
  • Oversee the commercial management of projects, ensuring accurate cost control, forecasting, and reporting
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders regarding commercial and contractual matters
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and relevant UK legislation including NEC and JCT contracts
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Resolve disputes and manage conflict within the team or with external parties
  • Report regularly to senior management on team performance, project status, and commercial risks
