About this role

Archer Western Construction, LLC is currently seeking a Carpenter for the Central Water Group / Tom Taylor Phase 3B Project in Lewisville, Texas. This role involves constructing, erecting, and installing structures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials using carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines.

Day-to-day work includes measuring and marking guidelines on working surfaces, preparing and installing wooden structures such as bridge forms, drain structures, walls, and other prefabricated units. You may also assist with installing awnings and metal decking for concrete slabs when decking is removed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years verifiable experience preferred
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffold/ladder
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • May be required to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
  • Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn
  • Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing, bending, kneeling or sitting for long periods

Responsibilities

  • Measure distance and mark guidelines on working surface to prepare for laying down work
  • Prepare, build, and install wooden structures in line with prefabricated units to form bridge, drain structures, walls, and additional structures
  • Assist with installation of awnings and metal decking for concrete slabs (if decking is removed)
  • Use carpenter’s belt with carpentry hand tools, power tools, and other wood making machinery
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding and ladders as needed for elevated work
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine layout and materials required
