About this role

We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team remotely, supporting a key construction client in the region. You will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement and commercial strategies across a range of data center projects.

Day-to-day tasks include preparing Bills of Quantities, cost plans, and tender documents using industry standards like NRM or SMM. You will perform take-offs and measurements from drawings using software such as CostX, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD, and assist in administering contracts like NEC, JCT, or FIDIC.

You will collaborate closely with site teams, clients, and consultants to gather data for valuations and claims, and support cost monitoring, budget tracking, and cash flow forecasting. The role also involves identifying cost risks and value engineering opportunities, helping to maintain accurate documentation of site measurements and progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in cost estimating.
  • Data Centre experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in advanced functions of CostX to produce estimates, bills, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to an appropriate level.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction technologies and trends (e.g., sustainability) to assist on appropriate options and cost implications.
  • Organized and detail oriented; team player with ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Field experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities, cost plans, and tender documents using industry standards (e.g., NRM, SMM).
  • Perform take-offs and measurements from drawings/specifications using software like CostX, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD.
  • Support contract administration (NEC, JCT, or FIDIC) including assessing variations, valuations, and subcontractor payments.
  • Help with change order management and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
  • Support cost monitoring, budget tracking, and cash flow forecasting; help prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and cost reports.
  • Assist in procuring materials and subcontractors through price comparisons, tender analysis, and negotiation.
  • Liaise with site teams, clients, and consultants to gather data for valuations and claims; ensure accurate documentation of site measurements and delays.
  • Identify potential cost risks and opportunities for value engineering; support senior QS in dispute resolution and claims avoidance.
