Turner Construction Company is seeking a Carpenter Foreman to lead, direct, and coordinate the work of trade employees on projects in Nashville. This working foreman role combines hands-on carpentry with supervisory responsibilities to ensure safety, schedule delivery, quality, and budget adherence.

Day-to-day duties include overseeing rough carpentry, site logistics, fencing, deck and platform building, protection systems, and jobsite cleanup. The foreman completes and submits time sheets, daily construction reports, and required safety paperwork, while also operating equipment such as forklifts, backhoes, skidsteers, and excavators.

This role reports to the Superintendent, Project Manager, Project Executive, and Trades Manager, and involves close collaboration with subcontractors and suppliers. The foreman participates in interviewing and recommending hires for trade staff, supervises and develops trade employees, and provides input on performance appraisals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and exposure to supervisory responsibilities
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Moderate technical abilities including the utilization of a smart phone/tablet and supported software
  • Proficiency in EH&S applications
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule
  • OSHA 30-hour certification
  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Be a working foreman while leading carpenters to complete jobsite related projects
  • Oversee and make decisions related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing levels
  • Complete rough carpentry work, site logistical work, fencing, deck and platform building, protection systems, construction waste areas, and jobsite cleanup
  • Complete and submit time sheets, daily construction reports, and required safety paperwork daily
  • Participate in interviews and recommend hires for trades staff
  • Supervise and develop trade employees, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, backhoe, skidsteer, excavator, compactors, and construction hoist
  • Assist with overall site safety and quality programs, ensuring trade employees and subcontractors comply with Turner standards and applicable safety codes
