About this role
We're one of the UK’s biggest charities caring for 2,000 miles of canals, rivers, docks and reservoirs because life is better by water. Join as Apprentice Construction Manager (South) to protect traditional canal skills and ensure vital maintenance for future generations. This programme develops you into a well-rounded construction professional understanding operational, environmental and heritage considerations.
You'll join construction and maintenance teams responsible for lock gate replacements, structural repairs and large engineering projects. Start with hands-on skills in outdoor environments, learning from experienced professionals on planning, managing and delivering major heritage projects. As skills grow, assist in site inspections and contribute to daily operations.
Work outdoors across the region from a depot base, following an annualised hours system of 5 days out of 7 including weekends and holidays. Collaborate consultatively with contractors, suppliers and project teams. Participate in the annual winter stoppage programme, one of the busiest periods for major engineering work.
