About this role
Plan, lay-out and install forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts for installation of concrete structures in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble and install forms and related components.
Construct built-in-place or prefabricated wooden forms according to specifications, erect forms, and brace them to fixed objects using nails, bolts, anchor rods, and steel cables. Pour concrete into finished forms, vibrate, level, smooth, and shape surfaces, and finish concrete to specified textures.
Participate in all safety related processes and programs, watch for hazards, and use stop work authority if needed. Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers, and provide on-the-job training and mentoring to helpers and laborers.
Read and understand plans and specifications in blueprints, sketches, or plans to prepare project layout. Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions and assure crew plans and installations meet contract specifications.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in carpentry or concrete formwork.
- NCCER certifications in Concrete Finishing, Carpenter, Reinforcing Ironwork, Rigger, or Scaffolding preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Proficiency with hand tools (e.g., hammer, pliers) and power tools (e.g., skill saw, concrete vibrator).
- Knowledge of safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and hazard identification.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations including fractions and whole numbers.
- Physical ability to perform demanding construction tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in various conditions.
