Powerlines Group GmbH is the leading European supplier for railway electrification. This Trainee Quantity Surveyor role involves learning commercial and contract management to achieve financial performance targets. The position focuses on protecting the company from commercial risk while supporting project delivery.

Daily tasks include assisting with subcontractor accounts, administering payments, and issuing payment notices. The trainee will contribute to establishing records identifying progress, delays, and controlled change management. They also support the commercial team in understanding construction contracts and their application.

The role requires establishing good relationships within project teams, the supply chain, and clients. The environment is open, dynamically growing, and international. The trainee will work closely with the commercial department to optimize margin and reduce risk.

The position offers a structured apprenticeship scheme leading to a Level 6 degree in Quantity Surveying. The trainee will attend training courses and develop commercial and contract management skills. This is a chance to participate actively in the company's development.

Requirements

Must meet entry requirements for the Level 6 (BSc Hons) Professional Practice in Quantity Surveying Degree Apprenticeship at Sheffield Hallam University.
Right attitude and adherence towards safety is highly important.
Ability to manage own time, prioritise and meet deadlines.
Ability to undertake own research and independent learning.
Good interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated and able to demonstrate commitment to achieving the apprenticeship award.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to travel as required for the role – driving licence desirable.

Responsibilities

Learn about and assist the commercial and contract management department to achieve financial performance targets.
Support the project team to deliver contracts and protect the company from commercial risk.
Develop Quantity Surveying, Commercial and Contract Management skills through rotation within appropriate departments.
Attend training provider courses full time or day release to complete the Level 6 Apprentice Standard.
Administer subcontractor accounts from project start up through to final account, including payments and payment notices.
Establish contemporaneous records identifying progress, delays, and controlled change management.
Establish good relationships within project teams, the supply chain, and the client.
Pursue training and professional development goals of the commercial apprenticeship scheme.
