Operators work twelve-hour shifts, either 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., overseeing assigned areas within the water plant. This position is designated as safety sensitive under Oklahoma law, requiring full adherence to safety protocols and equipment use.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a respirator fit and cardiopulmonary test
  • Must be able to utilize all safety equipment within its design capacities
  • Ability to work twelve-hour rotating shifts including nights and weekends
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes and related chemical handling
  • Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters, and SCADA systems
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain applicable water treatment certifications

Responsibilities

  • Monitor assigned areas of water treatment processes, equipment, facilities, and pumping operations while on shift
  • Supervise and coordinate shift personnel to ensure efficient plant operations
  • Perform water quality testing and adjust treatment chemical feeds as required
  • Operate and maintain plant equipment including pumps, valves, and chemical feed systems
  • Utilize all safety equipment within its design capacities, including fall protection systems, ladders, lifts, and confined space entry gear
  • Complete daily operational logs, reports, and shift hand-off documentation
  • Respond to alarms, equipment malfunctions, and process upsets in a timely manner
