About this role
Archer Western is seeking a Carpenter for the Wasena Bridge Replacement in Roanoke, VA. The role involves constructing, erecting, and installing structures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials. This uses carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines on commercial, industrial, or heavy civil jobsites.
Carpenters measure distances and mark guidelines on working surfaces to lay out work. They prepare, build, and install wooden structures aligned with prefabricated units for bridges, drain structures, walls, and more. Assistance may include installing awnings or metal decking for concrete slabs when needed.

Requirements
- 3-5 Years Verifiable Experience Preferred
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffold/ladder
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Good manual dexterity; able to stand, bend, kneel or sit for long periods
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Responsibilities
- Measures distance and marks guidelines on working surface to prepare for laying down work
- Prepares, builds, and installs wooden structures in line with prefabricated units to form bridge, drain structures, walls, and additional structures
- Assists with installation of awnings, metal decking for concrete slabs if decking is removed
- Uses carpenter’s belt with carpentry hand tools, power tools, and other wood making machinery
