We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team at HMP The Mount, a Category C, Male prison. As a Carpenter Locksmith, you will work Monday to Sunday as part of a supportive and driven family. Together, create a safe and nurturing environment for prisoners, employees, and visitors.
HMP The Mount runs like a self-contained Town, requiring hundreds of people to function. The Facilities Maintenance Team drives smooth and safe operation, impacting every prisoner, employee, visitor, families, and community. Everything done acts like a heart pumping blood through the body.

Requirements
- Substantiated experience in similar role
- Competency in the use and operation of all associated power tools and machinery
- Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
- Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification
- City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or equivalent qualification or substantial experience
- Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
Responsibilities
- Maintain prison facilities through carpentry repairs and installations using power tools
- Perform locksmith tasks including lock repairs and security door maintenance
- Operate associated power tools and machinery competently in a secure environment
- Contribute to smooth and safe operation of HMP The Mount as part of Facilities Maintenance Team
- Collaborate with plumbers, electricians, painters, and other trades to support prison functions
- Ensure all work promotes a safe environment for prisoners, staff, and visitors
- Apply carpentry skills to support rehabilitation efforts and positive change
