About this role

Lambeth Council seeks an experienced Bricklayer for Community Works, its in-house Direct Labour Organisation. You will carry out estate-based works including bricklaying, pointing, blockwork, fencing, and repairs to walls and manholes. This role supports estate improvement projects with flexibility for related groundworks.

Duties focus on maintaining and enhancing shared spaces to improve appearance and safety of estates. Accurate logging and coding of all jobs via PDA/SOR is essential. Deliver excellent value for money by reducing reliance on external contractors.

Requirements

  • Qualified bricklayer (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Experience in brickwork, pointing, blockwork, and estate-based repairs
  • Ability to support minor groundworks and estate improvement tasks
  • Strong health and safety awareness
  • Customer-focused approach and ability to work independently
  • Ability to code works correctly using SOR codes
  • Experience using PDAs or handheld technology to record and close jobs
