About this role

Under general supervision, responsible for providing skilled craftsmanship as a journeyman carpenter. Completes carpentry work in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of new and existing buildings. Handles floors (tiles, ceramic, VCT), roofs, walls, stairways, doors, windows, cabinets, ceiling tiles, restroom partitions, and other structures.

Locates, seals, and repairs leaks and transitions while maintaining records of repairs and locations. Operates power saws, planers, jointers, hand tools, and other equipment. Selects wood, cuts to size, sands surfaces, cleans, sharpens, and repairs tools.

Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment and assists with time estimates and materials required for jobs. Assists other trades as needed, including plumbing and electrical. Ensures work complies with safety and environmental guidelines.

Demonstrates knowledge of materials, methods, and tools for construction and repair. Applies skills in repairing floor tiles, industrial roof repairs, and sheet metal/lead flashing. Reads blueprints accurately to support facility maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair
  • Ability to install, repair, and select appropriate equipment to complete job
  • Knowledge in repairing floor tiles (VCT or ceramic)
  • Knowledge in industrial roof repairs
  • Knowledge of installation, waterproofing, repair, and maintenance of sheet metal/lead flashing
  • Extensive knowledge in the operation and care of associated large and small power equipment and hand tools
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately read blueprints
  • Ability to comply with safety and environmental guidelines
