About this role

This position provides carpentry skills at marine project locations for Orion. Incumbents construct, erect, install, and repair concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel supports, frame buildings, and shelters according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions. They support guiding beliefs centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Teamwork, and Integrity.

Interpret plans and specifications to build or repair wooden structures and forms. Lay out foundation, building lines, and anchor bolts. Shoot elevations and grades, erect forms, and monitor pours for depressed areas and anchor bolts.

Perform wood framing and metal stud framing as required by projects. Receive and offload building materials safely. Inspect and make minor repairs to wooden structures.

Work closely with Project Superintendent, Barge Foreman, Crane Operators, Boat Captain, Laborers, and other crafts persons. Secure and maintain basic tools like hammer, tape measure, level, and framing square. Ensure participation in Safety and Environmental initiatives for regulatory compliance.

Responsible for personal safety and safety of co-workers. Authorized to stop work if unsafe conditions are observed. Comply with all laws, regulations, and Company policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years carpentry experience or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Ability to communicate well
  • Good knowledge of practices and materials of the carpentry trade
  • Proficiency with basic carpentry tools including hammer, nail bag, tape measure, utility knives, chisel assortment, level, framing square, screwdriver assortment, nail set
  • Ability to read sketches, blueprints, and oral instructions
  • Skill in laying out foundations, shooting elevations, erecting forms, and framing

Responsibilities

  • Interpret plans and specifications to build, construct, or repair wooden structures or forms
  • Lay out foundation, building lines, and anchor bolts
  • Shoot elevations and grades as required by the project
  • Erect forms and monitor pour regarding depressed areas, building lines, anchor bolts
  • Perform wood framing and metal stud framing as dictated by the project
  • Receive building and construction materials and offload in a safe and proficient fashion
  • Work closely with Barge Foreman, Crane Operators, Helpers, and other skilled crafts persons
