The Generation Construction Manager leads contracted construction activities within PGE’s Generation Department safely, with highest quality, on time and within budget. This role is part of the Generation, T&D Project Management Office delivering complex capital projects.
The Generation Construction Manager provides engineering support, technical project and construction management for all asset classes, including planning and design of new or upgrade installations. Position offers input and guidance during pre-design, engineering, and final design phases. Work occurs on site throughout PGE territory with limited remote options.
Leads teams using sound project management and construction principles to achieve near-term and long-term objectives. Collaborates with engineering, plant/operations personnel, and construction participants. Manages some of PGE’s most complex and critical generation projects.

Requirements
- Experience managing complex generation construction and major maintenance projects
- Knowledge of project management tools and systems for capital portfolio delivery
- Familiarity with company safety culture, programs, policies, and relevant state/federal regulations
- Expertise in bid document preparation, site visits, proposal evaluation, and contract negotiation
- Understanding of environmental permitting and coordination for sensitive projects
- Ability to integrate constructability into project planning, design, and operations
- Technical knowledge of generation, T&D, switchyard/substation assets
- Experience providing input during pre-design, engineering, and final design phases
Responsibilities
- Assure project safety by establishing effective communication between engineering, plant/operations, and construction participants; ensure safe working practices per company policies and regulations
- Design and provide plant safety training to contractors when necessary
- Delineate scope, budgeting, scheduling, and performance requirements for complex generation, facilities, and switchyard/substation construction projects
- Establish project implementation plans; oversee bid documents, site visits, bid evaluations, and contract negotiations
- Oversee coordination of permit and environmental requirements for environmentally sensitive projects; provide updates to Environmental Services
- Provide authoritative advice on constructability, integrating construction knowledge into conceptual planning, design, and field operations
- Review construction processes from start to finish during preconstruction phase; identify obstacles before they arise
- Provide contract management, coordination, and inspection expertise for construction and maintenance projects
