BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility seeks a Refractory Installation Bricklayer for the Refractory Service team. This team delivers integrated services including development, sourcing, installation of refractory solutions for operational units.
In this highly physical role, join experienced refractory bricklayers to deliver installation services focused on safety, quality of materials, and reliability. Contribute to relining ladles, repairing Blast Furnace troughs, and spraying materials using gunning techniques. The role follows a 7 days a week, 4 on 4 off 12-hour day shift pattern.
The Refractory Service team ensures security, reliability, and availability of refractory lined units across six major manufacturing sites. Requirements
- Certificate III in Bricklaying
- Commitment to the safety of yourself and others
- High attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a highly physical environment
- Ability to work independently while contributing to the greater team’s success
- Developed communication skills for building constructive and effective relationships
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a safe working environment, ensuring safety standards are never compromised
- Reline ladles and vessels for iron and steel making using bricklaying and refractory installation techniques
- Carry out refractory installation and repairs of Blast Furnace troughs
- Spray refractory materials using gunning techniques
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes following internal and external training
