About this role

Lead carpenters oversee a crew of 3 to 4 people on residential remodeling projects. Remote Alaska experience is a plus. They ensure efficient work progression in rural settings.

Study individual job sites to plan work and accurately take off construction materials. Estimate amount of work and time required for each job. Build foundations, level buildings, and handle all phases of residential construction.

Install windows, doors, insulation, sealing, flooring, siding, roof work, stairs, finish carpentry, cabinets, and countertops. Manage materials and supplies for job efficiency. Understand construction logistics in rural Alaska.

Prepare project labor coding on timesheets and work with Human Resources and Transportation Director to hire, discipline, or fire onsite employees. Interact professionally with the general public. Travel frequently within the region for projects.

Requirements

  • Proof of construction supervisory experience – minimum 4 years
  • Resume of previous employment with references
  • Proficiency with residential construction
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Four years working in a carpenter position
  • Apprenticeship trade in construction or maintenance strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and its use
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with good driving record
