About this role

The Carpenter is responsible for measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials at Carnival Corporation owned and operated global destinations. They construct and install building frameworks such as walls, floors, and doorframes. Carpenters also inspect and replace damaged structures and fixtures while providing guidance to laborers and construction helpers.

Daily tasks include hanging drywall and assisting with wall/ceiling framing, installing wood, tile, and vinyl flooring, and building doors, cabinets, shelving, and windows. Carpenters cut, shape, and alter materials, measure precisely, and assemble structural components using hand and power tools. They assist with demolition and ensure installations meet building codes and project requirements.

Carpenters create detailed construction reports, update logs, document repairs, materials, and labor hours for supervisors. They review plans and blueprints, follow project timelines, ensure compliance with procedures and standards, and participate in meetings. Assistance in estimating time, materials, and labor supports efficient project management.

Safety is paramount: perform work per OSHA guidelines, conduct inspections, maintain tools, use PPE, and keep areas hazard-free. Report issues promptly and participate in training. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, and readiness for emergency procedures in the island environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of general carpentry experience and completion of an apprenticeship, or equivalent
  • Proficient with power tools for cutting, shaping, and joining wood
  • Keen eye for detail and understands the importance of safety
  • Interpret blueprints accurately
  • Specialize in woodworking
  • Multitasking ability
  • Physical strength to lift up to 50 pounds and participate in emergency procedures
