About this role

The HSW Manager leads implementation of health and safety practices across multiple projects within a Business Unit. Provides proactive leadership, ensures compliance with legislation and company standards, and drives continuous improvement in HSW performance. Requires strong operational oversight, regular site presence, and close collaboration with teams.

Oversees compliance with Omexom Management System, ISO 45001, and CDM 2015. Coordinates HSW Advisors on Construction Stage Health and Safety Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements. Monitors subcontractor documentation and conducts regular site visits and inspections.

Collaborates with Business Unit management, project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and clients. Attends project meetings, promotes hazard identification and near-miss reporting, and provides HSW input to operational and tendering teams. Chairs weekly Business Unit HSW calls and supports monthly board meetings.

Leads incident and near-miss investigations, shares lessons learned, and reports on KPIs and performance. Ensures HSW training, toolbox talks, and compliance with procedures. Supports Omexom Safe Communities, identifies improvement opportunities, and stays informed on legislation changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • NEBOSH Diploma, Level 6 NVQ Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH) preferred
  • Experience in an HSW role within construction or infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of ISO 45001 and H&S management systems
  • Recognised training in accident/incident investigation

Responsibilities

  • Provide visible leadership and act as a role model for health and safety across all operational sites
  • Oversee compliance with the Omexom Management System, ISO 45001 and CDM 2015
  • Coordinate HSW Advisors in support of Construction Stage Health and Safety Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections
  • Lead or support investigations into incidents and near misses, ensuring root causes are identified and lessons learned shared
  • Monitor and report on Business Unit health and safety performance, including KPIs and incident statistics
  • Ensure HSW training and toolbox talks are delivered across the Business Unit
  • Actively support implementation of the Omexom Safe Communities way of working
