About this role
Michael Baker International’s Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out. We are seeking an experienced Transportation Construction Manager to lead high-visibility infrastructure projects in the Cincinnati region. This role partners with DOT clients on major roadway, highway, and bridge improvements impacting local communities.
Lead day-to-day construction management and inspection activities on high-impact transportation projects including highways, interchanges, bridges, and arterials. Oversee contractor operations to ensure compliance with ODOT/KYTC standards, safety requirements, and project specifications. Manage all aspects of construction administration, including contracts, pay applications, change orders, RFIs, and project documentation.
Serve as the primary point of leadership for field staff, inspectors, and project teams, driving performance, accountability, and development. Build and maintain strong partnerships with DOT representatives, clients, and stakeholders. Lead project meetings and provide clear, strategic updates to clients and senior leadership.
Drive project success by actively monitoring schedule, budget, and quality performance. Ensure all work aligns with federal, state, and local regulations. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in transportation construction management (roadway/bridge focus)
- Strong working knowledge of ODOT and/or KYTC standards and processes (certifications a plus)
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex infrastructure projects successfully
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust across teams and clients
- Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical requirements with confidence
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work in dynamic, field-based environments
