About this role
CMHA-CEI, a Michigan Certified Bronze Level Veteran Friendly Employer, seeks a Carpenter / Repair Maintenance Tech I. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, constructs, repairs, and maintains wooden and steel structures such as residential homes, office buildings, equipment, furniture, and partitions. Uses hand and power tools for all building maintenance tasks.
Performs both rough and fine carpentry tasks along with minor plumbing and electrical repairs on Community Mental Health Authority buildings. Handles assorted construction materials in a variety of sizes and weights. Utilizes a wide range of supplies, hand, and power tools in the workplace.
Carries out all activities in a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies, and procedures. Works in General Administration, Lansing, Michigan, and may receive emergency calls after regular hours. Encourages active military service members, veterans, and their family members to apply.

Requirements
- Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a carpenter, including apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training
- Valid Michigan driver's license
- Access to reliable means of transportation for job related use
- Possession or ability to obtain a Michigan Residential Builder's license
- Ability to obtain C3 endorsement for driving a van
- Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form
- Physically able to transport assorted construction material and utilize hand and power tools

Benefits
- Salary $44,883.94 - $59,845.35 annually with scheduled annual increases to $74,806.77
