About this role

Lead carpenters must be able to lead a crew of 3 to 4 people on residential remodeling projects. Remote Alaska residential remodeling experience is a plus. This role demands hands-on expertise in rural construction environments.

Study individual job sites, plan work, and accurately take off construction materials daily. Estimate amount of work and time required for each job. Build foundations, level buildings, and handle all phases of residential construction from installation to finishing.

Manage materials and supplies to ensure efficient job progression. Understand construction logistics in rural Alaska. Prepare project labor coding on timesheets and work with Human Resources and Transportation Director to hire, discipline, or fire onsite employees.

Interact with the general public while maintaining a professional attitude. Travel frequently within the region for projects. Work in outdoor environments using various transport like jet, small plane, four-wheeler, snow machine, or boat.

Requirements

  • Proof of construction supervisory experience with minimum 4 years
  • Resume of previous employment with references
  • Proficiency with residential construction
  • Four years working in a carpenter position
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Apprenticeship trade in construction or maintenance strongly preferred
  • Fluency in Yup’ik and English strongly preferred
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with good driving record to be insured on AVCP Vehicle Policy
