Skilled Carpenter - Facilities

Plant Services Carpenter performs general carpentry assignments including repair and replacement of doors and walls. Tasks also cover installation of ceilings and replacement of tiles, fire caulking penetrations, and railing repairs. This role supports facilities maintenance at General Dynamics Electric Boat.

Daily duties involve flooring projects, install and replacement of stair treads, window repairs, and locksmith services. Additional responsibilities include installation of LKM and CDX locking devices, shelving, and repair or replacement of bathroom partitions. Hanging Christmas wreaths, pictures, banners, white boards, and bulletin boards is also required.

Work in hot and cold environmental conditions, operating power shop tools like table saws, drill press, jointer, planer, and radial arm saw. Be a self-starter capable of working alone with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong safety and absenteeism performance. Comply with EB core values, showing strong communication and cooperation skills as a team player.

Handle specialized tasks such as AED medical heart devices, signs, cutting tree limbs with a chain saw, and demolition and renovation projects. Work with sketches and drawings for carpentry preps in Christening ceremonies. Willingness to work daily and weekend overtime supports special projects.
