About this role

Archer Western Construction is currently seeking a Carpenter for the Belmont SPS Replacement in Woodbridge, VA. The Carpenter constructs, erects, installs structures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials using carpentry hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines. This applies to jobsites including commercial, industrial, or heavy civil projects.

Daily tasks involve measuring distances and marking guidelines on working surfaces to lay down work. Carpenters prepare, build, and install wooden structures aligned with prefabricated units for bridges, drain structures, walls, and more. They may assist with installing awnings or metal decking for concrete slabs when decking is removed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 Years Verifiable Experience Preferred
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on scaffold/ladder
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in adverse weather conditions
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
  • Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn
  • Good manual dexterity; able to stand, bend, kneel, or sit for long periods
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Measure distance and mark guidelines on working surface to prepare for laying down work
  • Prepare, build, and install wooden structures in line with prefabricated units to form bridges, drain structures, walls, and additional structures
  • Assist with installation of awnings and metal decking for concrete slabs if decking is removed
  • Use carpenter’s belt with carpentry hand tools, power tools, and other wood making machinery
  • Construct, erect, and install structures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials
  • Erect structures on commercial, industrial, or heavy civil jobsites
