We are looking for a Safety Officer passionate about ensuring a safe work environment for the entire project team. Help the team think proactively to provide a safe place to work. Work hand-in-hand with project supers and project managers to enforce company policy as well as OSHA safety regulations and policies.

Provide structure around site safety with superintendents and subcontractors while raising awareness of potential hazards. Conduct regular safety audits assessing all safety-related issues and follow up with the project team. Assist subcontractors via toolbox talks, safety checklists, and job hazard analyses.

Communicate directly with subcontractors to discuss concerns and Shawmut's expectations. Maintain IT systems essential to capture, analyze data, and communicate effectively. Develop strong relationships with every member of the project team, subcontractors, and clients while conducting new hire safety orientations.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA construction standards
  • Prior safety or construction-related internship a plus
  • Experience working on a CCIP project a plus
  • Ability to conduct toolbox talks and job hazard analyses
  • Proficiency in safety audit processes and follow-up
  • Familiarity with construction site hazard identification
  • Work requires frequent travel

Responsibilities

  • Provide structure around site safety with superintendent and subcontractors

  • Conduct regular safety audits throughout the project assessing safety issues and follow up with the project team
  • Assist subcontractors with site safety needs via toolbox talks, safety checklists, job hazard analysis
  • Communicate directly with subcontractors to discuss concerns and Shawmut's expectations
  • Maintain information technology and systems to capture, analyze data, report, and communicate effectively
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with project team members, subcontractors, and clients
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations
