About this role
The Plant Operator safely and efficiently operates fixed and mobile equipment typically used in an aggregate plant, including wash plants, crushers, and conveyors. This role also requires proficiency in maintenance and repairs of fixed equipment to maximize production and minimize interruptions.
Daily responsibilities include performing inspections of plant and mobile equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations. The operator maintains records related to safety, production, and maintenance, and operates heavy equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, and water trucks.
The team environment involves interfacing with internal and external customers, vendors, and contractors in a professional manner. The operator participates in repair activities like screen changes, conveyor belt repair, crusher line changes, and welding as needed.

Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Familiarity with aggregates and construction materials such as sand, gravel, and crushed rock
- Knowledge and experience in various aggregate plant equipment (crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers, and other fixed and mobile equipment)
- Knowledge of equipment and methods used in production process, and related aspects of materials storage, handling, and distribution of aggregates
- Physical requirements: ability to use various hand tools, work in inclement weather, lift/move up to 100 lbs., climb, walk, and stand
- Ability to lift and/or move 75 lbs. on a routine basis; 100 lbs. on an occasional basis
- Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
- Current MSHA training certification preferred; experience welding and cutting a plus
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections of plant equipment, mobile equipment, and plant site to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations
- Maintain records related to safety, production, and maintenance
- Successfully complete and maintain Method 9 Emissions certification
- Operate various types of heavy equipment including loaders, haul trucks, and water trucks
- Participate in repair and maintenance activities including screen changes, conveyor belt repair and adjustment, crusher line changes, and cutting, grinding, and welding
- Interface with internal and external customers, vendors, and contractors in a professional manner
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager
