Henkels & McCoy’s Chantilly office specializes in low voltage cabling to support enterprise, data centers, government, and medical facilities. The team designs and installs multiple technologies throughout the DC Metro area. H&M seeks an energetic, career-minded Construction Manager working out of the Chantilly, VA office supporting Northern Virginia customers.
The Construction Manager serves a tactical role as the on-site point of contact for multiple projects, reporting to the Project Manager. This position manages construction activities according to contract, scope, and schedule for optimal financial results. It ensures field crews prioritize, organize, and accomplish specific goals and plans.
Daily duties include defining work for field crews, coordinating subcontractors, and providing technical information from drawings into spreadsheets and cut-sheets. Attend on-site meetings with general contractors and customers, manage material deliveries, and identify issues requiring Project Manager attention. Track changes to support accurate Change Order Requests.
Build safety into every activity safeguarding the public, customers, employees, and environment while adhering to occupational safety laws. Develop relationships, form alliances, and manage conflicts for positive results completing work on time and budget. Responsible for site safety, quality control, and punch list management with customers.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years construction experience
- Minimum of 4 years low voltage, structured cabling design experience
- Experience directly managing craft labor
- Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, standards
- Thorough understanding of EIA/TIA Standards required
- Competent computer skills and working knowledge of email and Excel spreadsheets
- Physical ability to perform duties including climbing, standing, crouching, kneeling, bending, lifting
- Ability to travel to multiple job sites within the Northern Virginia area
Responsibilities
- Operate as a subject matter expert on structured cabling projects
- Conduct site surveys to provide input into estimates for proposals and review bid documents
- Define work for field crews daily ensuring adherence with the Project Plan
- Ensure all subcontractor activities are performed according to Purchase Order and Contract
- Provide technical information to field crews by translating structured cabling drawings into tracking spreadsheets and cut-sheets
- Attend on-site meetings with GCs and customers as necessary
- Coordinate material inventory and deliveries
- Identify issues requiring PM attention and track changes for Change Order Requests
- Manage all site safety, health, and security
- Perform field Quality Control functions and assemble punch lists
