About this role

The Carpenter performs standard to moderately complex tasks involving building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using materials including wood and steel. Travel to different job sites is required for this role. This position supports construction projects in commercial or industrial settings.

Carpenters work with materials such as steel, concrete, wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall. They plan and perform tasks to construct, erect, install, or repair structures like door and wall frames, hardware, doors, casework, trim, handrails, laminates, and door handles. They study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine dimensions and materials required.

Work occurs primarily in outdoor settings with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, requiring travel from site to site. Physical demands include walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs without assistance, and operating tools and vehicles. Normal vision and hearing are necessary to exchange information verbally.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 1-4 years experience working as a general Carpenter on commercial or industrial projects
  • Experience with various manual and power tools such as tape, square, plumb bob, level, hammer, razor knife, chalk box, tool belt, nail puller, and construction calculator
  • Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English; verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset
  • Valid Driver's License
