About this role
The Foreman Carpenter oversees and leads a crew of 1-15 employees on industrial construction projects. This role involves constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood and plywood using hand tools and power tools. Proficiency in reading blueprints ensures accurate determination of material scopes and locations.
Daily tasks include reading blueprints and specifications to identify quantities and sizes of materials required. Crew leaders must select all tools needed for tasks and pinpoint safety risks along with required precautions. This ensures efficient and secure execution of carpentry work on site.
The position reports to supervision over a crew of up to 5-15 craft workers, mixing journeymen, helpers, and laborers. Reliable leadership is key in coordinating these teams during industrial builds. Adherence to company and site rules maintains operational standards.
Physical demands require standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50lbs, and working at heights in all weather conditions while wearing PPE. Willingness to work full schedules with overtime supports project timelines. Safety compliance is mandatory for all activities.
Requirements
- 5+ years working as a Journeyman carpenter on an industrial construction project
- 2+ years of experience working in a supervisory position
- Able to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently to perform duties
- Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction
- Able to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification
- Reliable transportation
- Able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed
- Willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations
