About this role

Nonprofit Development Corporation (NDC) strengthens communities across Butler County through quality affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, and community-focused development projects. We seek a dependable and experienced Skilled Carpenter to perform carpentry tasks, general maintenance, and labor duties on construction and renovation projects. This role demands strong attention to detail, commitment to high-quality work, and adherence to project scopes, time schedules, and safety standards.

The Skilled Carpenter handles a wide range of tasks including loading, unloading, and transporting materials, constructing and dismantling temporary structures like scaffolding and braces, and assisting with demolition and site preparation. Responsibilities also cover servicing equipment such as pumps, compressors, and generators, preparing construction materials like concrete and plaster, and operating hand tools and equipment. Reading and interpreting blueprints ensures accurate execution under the direction of the Project & Facilities Manager and site supervisors.

Work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, full-time at 40 hours per week, with up to 50% travel to various job sites. A company work truck is provided, and mileage reimbursement is available for personal vehicle use. Occasional evening and weekend on-call shifts may be required, emphasizing teamwork with co-workers and community members while maintaining clean, safe job sites.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in carpentry or in the construction trade
  • Working knowledge of ADA requirements and applicable building codes
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
  • Ability to follow project scopes, time schedules, and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of construction equipment and hand tools
  • Demonstrate teamwork with co-workers and members of the community

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry and general labor tasks in support of construction managers and supervisors at residential, commercial, and business construction sites
  • Load, unload, and transport materials, and assist with delivery and setup of materials and equipment
  • Maintain clean and safe job sites by removing trash, residual building debris, and other materials
  • Construct and dismantle temporary structures, including scaffolding, braces, and concrete forms
  • Assist with demolition and site preparation activities
  • Service and maintain equipment such as pumps, compressors, generators, tractors, and trailers
  • Prepare and work with construction materials, including concrete, grout, cement, sand, and plaster
  • Read and interpret blueprints and designs, and operate a variety of construction equipment and hand tools
