About this role
This position is accountable for providing marine project support to Orion. Incumbents supervise daily operations on the work barge and ensure all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner. The role centers on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork built upon Integrity.
Daily work involves determining sequences for form fabrication and assembly of concrete structures. The foreman reviews blueprints with the Superintendent to establish dimensions for marine structures and assigns crews to cutting materials and erecting forms.
The position works closely with Carpenters, Project Superintendents, Field Engineers, Safety Representatives, Pile Drivers, Welders, and Laborers. It requires coordination across skilled and semi-skilled crafts to complete current marine construction projects.
Incumbents must demonstrate safety knowledge for chemical and process hazards including lockout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, and respiratory protection. The role also includes training crews, maintaining time records, and participating in Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives.
Requirements
- Ability to utilize positive and negative pressure respirators and SCBA respiratory equipment
- Demonstrated safety knowledge concerning chemical and process hazards including lockout/tagout, confined space, and fall protection
- Knowledge of CPR/First Aid procedures and emergency action plans
- Ability to drive regular passenger vehicles to visit work locations and job sites
- Experience analyzing and resolving work problems for construction crews
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily on-going operations on the work barge ensuring safe and efficient work performance
- Determine the sequence of activities for planning form fabrication, assembly, and completion of concrete structures
- Review blueprints with the Superintendent to determine dimensions of concrete and marine structures and forms
- Assign work crews to tasks such as cutting materials to size, building concrete forms, and erecting forms
- Supervise carpenters and carpenter crews engaged in concrete work and building marine structures
- Ensure compliance with all Company Health, Safety & Environmental Policies and Procedures
- Train new workers in use of equipment and tools while maintaining time records for the crew
