Barrett Paving Materials Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction and part of the Colas Group, is seeking an Aggregate Plant Operator and Laborer for our Fairborn, OH location. This role is essential to our aggregate production operations, supporting asphalt plants, paving services, and road construction projects.

Day-to-day, you will maintain the plant by performing routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, major and minor repairs, and cleanup including shoveling, washing with a high-pressure hose, and running a skid steer loader. You will also operate various pieces of equipment like front end loaders, off road haul trucks, road graders, water trucks, and service trucks.

Requirements

High School Graduate or GED
Willingness to learn, take direction, and follow safe work procedures
Willingness to work weekends and long hours during peak season
Drug and alcohol free
Capable of working outdoors year round
Mechanical proficiency (useful but not necessary)
1-2 years industry experience (useful but not necessary)
Knowledge of welding, cutting, and fabrication (useful but not necessary)

Responsibilities

Lubricate all plant and fleet equipment, including lifting grease and lubrication containers of approximately 50 lbs.
Add vital fluids to all reservoirs and note any additions on daily equipment sheets.
Replace machine parts weighing as much as several hundred pounds.
Perform pre-startup inspections of assigned equipment, which may require climbing up, over, or on top of the equipment.
Operate various pieces of equipment such as front end loader, off road haul truck, road grader, water truck, service truck, and skid steer loader.
Perform routine maintenance tasks including major and minor repairs.
Clean up the plant area by shoveling, washing with a high-pressure hose, and running a skid steer loader.
Work in heights and sometimes tight spaces as needed.
