About this role
The Carpenter - Skilled Tradesman is an experienced and trainable laborer skilled in carpentry for residential and commercial rebuilding, with a track record in insurance restoration work. Effective communication skills are essential during reconstruction. This role reports directly to the Project Manager and requires a reliable truck and tools.
Daily tasks include general carpentry, demolition, tile work, hanging cabinets, trim carpentry for baseboards, door hanging and taping, painting, and light electrical or plumbing. Perform rough framing by re-framing homes and setting trusses. Ensure satisfaction through professional appearance, expert workmanship, and polite communication.
This position has no direct reports and requires compliance with safety, quality, and procedural standards. Work involves physical demands like lifting 25-50 pounds, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crawling in confined areas such as crawl spaces. Identify hazards and work safely without threats to self or others.
Availability for travel to out-of-town projects, catastrophic events, training, or meetings is expected. Compensation includes an hourly pay range of $21.00 - $36.00 plus a comprehensive benefits package. Opportunities include professional development and extended benefits like paid referrals.
Requirements
- Direct experience working as a skilled carpenter
- Knowledge of carpentry and use of related hand and power tools
- Self-motivated with ability to work in confined areas like crawl spaces
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Communicate effectively in oral and written forms for paperwork
- Identify hazards in assigned work areas
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
- Maintain valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
