Carpenter

Building a career at Granite may be the most valuable thing you could do. Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard using carpenter’s handtools and power tools. This job conforms to local building codes and participates in on-the-job training.

Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine materials like lumber or fiberboard and dimensions of structures. Selects specified types of lumber, prepares layouts with rule, framing square, and calipers. Marks lines, shapes materials with saws, chisels, and planes, then assembles and fastens them.

Verifies trueness using plumb bob and carpenter’s level, erects frameworks, lays subflooring, builds stairs, and installs partitions. Covers subfloors with building paper, lays hardwood floors, and applies paneling to ceilings and walls. Fits prefabricated windows, doors, trim, and hardware.
