About this role

As a Health Safety & Environmental Specialist, you will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site environmental, health, and safety programs. You will partner with site leadership and associates to foster a culture of safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive risk reduction initiatives. Serve as an HSE technical resource for capital projects, environmental reviews, and risk management.

Key responsibilities include ensuring site compliance with federal, state, local, EPA, OSHA, DOT, and company HSE regulations. Administer HSE systems like Keytroller, Forklift Speed Zones, POKA, Weaver Apps, Enablon, and PPE Vending Machines. Develop and improve site-specific HSE programs to position the site as best-in-class.

Collaborate with the Site HSE Manager and various stakeholders to deliver HSE training and promote associate engagement. Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis tools and implement corrective actions. Conduct audits, inspections, and support third-party risk assessments.

Oversee hazardous waste management, air, water, spill control, and industrial hygiene risks like ergonomics, dust, noise, and chemical exposure. Participate in risk assessments, continuous improvement projects, sustainability initiatives, emergency response, and contractor safety programs. Work with diverse and talented Associates guided by the Five Principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 2–5 years in EHS roles, preferably in manufacturing or CPG environments
  • Experience with waste water, storm water, air emissions, chemical management and hazardous waste preferred
  • Certifications like ASP, CSP, CIH, or similar credentials preferred
  • Strong communication and training skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local HSE regulations
  • Experience with incident investigation and risk assessment
  • PowerBi dashboard management

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and improve site-specific HSE programs and plans
  • Deliver HSE training and promote associate engagement in safety initiatives
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance
  • Oversee hazardous waste management, air, water, and spill control programs
