Mattamy Homes is the largest privately owned homebuilder in North America, with over 40 years of history across the U.S. and Canada. The Area Construction Manager oversees multiple communities and builders in the Charlotte metro area. Focus areas include home quality, customer satisfaction, project deadlines, and community storefront.
Daily responsibilities involve participating in subcontractor selection and monitoring compliance with codes, plans, specifications, and safety regulations. Manage coordination of schedules, inspections, and resolution of customer service and production issues. Supervise builders across a geographic portion of the division while reviewing site plans and blueprints.
Lead a team by providing technical skill and behavioral coaching, conducting performance evaluations, and mentoring builders, assistants, and interns. Teach Mattamy Builder Training modules and train direct reports on construction processes. Act as safety representative, overseeing emergency responses and compliance.
Monitor construction progress, material use, and subcontractor work while obtaining permits if applicable. Conduct weekly production meetings to enhance job quality, workflow efficiency, and discuss even flow starts and closings. Control costs through time sheets, payments, lock dates, bonuses, and budget variance analysis.
Demonstrate strong customer relations skills with understanding of CSAT measures. Apply knowledge of estimating and negotiating to correct cost overruns. Provide guidance on subcontractor relations, design specs, safety, quality control, and company policies.
Requirements
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in specialized training from a technical school combined with 7 years of related field experience
- Thorough knowledge of management practices and leadership skills to manage daily operational activities
- Knowledge of residential home building industry with appropriate construction experience required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Build Pro by Hyphen Solutions preferred
- Adaptability and flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with ability to coordinate several major activities simultaneously
- Understands CSAT measures and has strong customer relations skills
- Knowledge of estimating and negotiating
- Technical expert in one or more phases of construction

- Monitor progress of construction activities including subcontractor work, delivery and use of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment
