About this role

As a carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing and repairing structures made of wood, plywood, and other materials. You will also install fixtures such as cabinets, shelves, and doors using specialized tools like saws, drills, and sanders. Safety protocols must always be prioritized on the job site.

Perform stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, and layout for stairs and common rafters. Read blueprints and use mathematical skills for material estimates. Maintain furniture and carpentry repairs in guest rooms, meeting rooms, public areas, and back of house.

Work closely with management, employees, guests, housekeeping, and engineering staff. Communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Assist during room preventive maintenance and keep communication open for service tasks.

Report major repairs to management and track areas needing attention. Keep work areas clean and organized while climbing ladders and operating woodworking machines. Maintain physical stamina to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle flexible nights or weekends.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate with management, employees, and guests
  • Read blueprints; mathematical and analytical skills for material estimates
  • Work with carpentry tools and materials; operate woodworking machines and electrical hand tools
  • Lift and manipulate objects up to 80 lbs
  • Flexible to work nights and/or weekends
  • Extensive knowledge of the carpentry trade and property repair maintenance
  • Climb ladders, work from scaffolding, and maintain physical stamina
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace furniture, wall coverings, acoustical ceiling panels, and gypsum board
  • Design, cut, build, and assemble wooden parts or furniture as requested
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and keep work area clean and organized
  • Assist housekeeping and engineering staff during room preventive maintenance
