About this role
We are seeking an experienced Miscellaneous Metals Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of steel fabrication and erection projects. This role oversees assigned projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved while maintaining effective coordination across internal teams and external partners.
Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the fabrication and erection of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, joists, and metal decking. The manager also reviews specifications and blueprints, develops detailed project schedules, and prepares submittals, contracts, and purchase orders.
The project manager coordinates with other contractors to maintain schedules and manage material deliveries, and participates in the BIM process and clash detection. The work environment involves exposure to dust, welding fumes, paint fumes, loud noise, and moving mechanical parts typical of construction sites.
This is a full-time direct-hire position with a salary range of $65,000 to $100,000 based on experience. Travel of approximately 15% is required to job sites throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia, with mileage reimbursement available. Flexibility for overtime and occasional Saturdays is expected as project demands dictate.
Requirements
- 4+ years of project management experience, preferably in steel fabrication and/or erection.
- Prior experience managing commercial or industrial steel projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera preferred.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Strong understanding of steel construction materials, methods, and tools.
- Knowledge of safety, quality, and cost control standards.
- Ability to apply job-related mathematics and perform field verification as needed.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the fabrication and erection of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, joists, and metal decking.
- Manage steel detailing and surveying activities.
- Review specifications and blueprints to determine material quantities, locations, and sizes.
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules covering preconstruction, submittals, engineering, shop drawings, procurement, fabrication, shipping, erection, and closeout.
- Prepare, coordinate, review, and execute submittals, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and professional service agreements.
- Prepare schedules of values and submit monthly project billings.
- Prepare and negotiate change orders, deducts, and proposals.
- Coordinate steel packages with other trades through the BIM process and participate in clash detection.
