About this role

Hill International seeks various levels of Construction Managers for airport capital improvement projects. The role plans, coordinates, and oversees construction activities to deliver work safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory, operational, and security requirements. Assignments occur in Landside or Airside (AOA) environments with close coordination among stakeholders.

Manages construction from pre-construction through closeout, providing on-site oversight for contractor compliance with plans, specifications, safety, and quality standards. Monitors progress, identifies risks, implements mitigation, and reviews schedules, submittals, RFIs, cost proposals, change requests, and pay applications. Performs site inspections, tracks budgets, and forecasts impacts.

Coordinates activities with airport operations, maintenance, safety, security, airlines, tenants, FAA, TSA, and regulators. Ensures sequencing, access, and work hours align with operational needs to minimize disruptions. Handles Landside projects like terminal renovations, parking, roadways; Airside includes pavements, ramps, NOTAMs, and safety compliance.

Level determined by experience, assignment complexity, and leadership capability. Participates in or leads meetings, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and briefings to project teams and airport leadership. Prepares regular progress reports while evaluating change orders and claims.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • 5 to 20+ years of experience delivering aviation-related construction projects, with experience level aligned to position classification
  • OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), or comparable credential preferred
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain an airport security badge and Air Operations Area (AOA) access
  • Willingness and ability to work night, weekend, or off-peak hours as necessary

  • Ensure construction sequencing, access, and work hours align with operational requirements
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports and briefings to project teams and airport leadership
  • Support or lead construction risk assessments and constructability reviews
