We are seeking a Full Time Junior Site Safety Officer at our multifamily site in Martensville, SK. Provide safe working conditions for all workers, sub-trades, and visitors on site. Offer instructions in safe work procedures and personal protective equipment use. Investigate accidents, incidents, or near misses to determine underlying causes and complete necessary forms immediately.

Conduct regular on-site hazard assessments to identify hazards and unsafe practices, providing recommendations to eliminate issues. Work in cooperation with project supervisory personnel to address safety violations and develop safety policies. Handle daily administration of the Safety Program and conduct in-house safety training.

Requirements

  • Experience on a residential construction site
  • 1-5 years Safety Experience
  • Computer skills with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize work
  • Valid First Aid
  • Expect to be walking job sites ensuring safety compliance and engaging with workers - ideal for someone who enjoys being physically active and outdoors

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe working conditions for all workers, sub-trades and visitors on/around the site
  • Provide instructions to workers in safe work procedures and how to use personal protective equipment
  • Undertake the investigation of accidents, incidents or near misses to determine underlying causes and complete necessary forms immediately
  • Report any anticipated loss of work time to the Safety Manager as soon as possible after an injury
  • Conduct regular on-site hazard assessments, identify hazards and unsafe work practices, and provide recommendations to eliminate issues
  • Work in cooperation with project supervisory personnel to determine procedures for safety violations and develop safety policies
  • Responsible for the daily administration of the Safety Program
  • Conduct in-house safety training
