Under the direction of the General Section supervisor, assist in supervising and coordinating activities of the General Section, including locksmiths, carpentry, painting, tile setting, flooring, sheetrock and groundskeeping. Schedule, estimate, assign, supervise and control costs of maintenance and repair on all building structures, roadways, grounds and parking areas. Receive written and verbal assignments from supervisor, accomplish tasks according to priority or schedules, and report completion. Maintain required records and reports regarding maintenance, repair and new installation for all buildings and systems.

Contact vendors, suppliers and contractors to receive quotes, make repairs and install new equipment. Assist or supervise Maintenance Operations Department and contractors during snow removal, ensuring adequate manpower and materials. Provide 24-hour service for operational and emergency situations, responding to the medical center as needed.

Maintain adequate repair parts and supplies for normal and emergency repairs. Provide training to departmental personnel on snow removal equipment, painting procedures, locksmith activities and general carpentry maintenance. Work within a collaborative environment guided by precedents and procedures, with progress monitored by supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 5-8 years related work experience required
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
  • Decision Making: Ability to make decisions guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation
  • Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation using direct observation, knowledge, and skills based on general precedents
  • Independence of Action: Ability to follow precedents and procedures, set priorities and organize work within general guidelines
  • Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers
  • Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers

Responsibilities

  • Provides training to departmental personnel regarding snow removal equipment, painting procedures, locksmith activities and general carpentry maintenance
