The Carpenter/Painter performs necessary carpentry and painting duties to maintain facilities in good repair and appearance. Pay is $35/hourly, with specific offers varying based on experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and market data. Day-to-day tasks include carpentry on building woodwork like bins, counters, benches, partitions, and doors. Plan and lay out work from blueprints or verbal instructions using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments. Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- 3-5 years of carpentry experience required
- Ability to plan work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions
- Proficiency with carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments
- Skill in standard shop computations for work dimensions
- Knowledge to identify surface peculiarities and select appropriate paints
- Experience preparing surfaces by removing old finishes or filling holes
- Familiarity mixing paint ingredients and applying via brush or spray gun
Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry duties to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, counters, benches, partitions, and doors
- Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions using carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments
- Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work
- Select materials necessary for the work
- Paint walls, woodwork, and fixtures
- Identify surface peculiarities and determine types of paint required for different applications
- Prepare surface for painting by removing old finish or placing putty or filler in nail holes
- Mix colors, oils, white lead, and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency
- Use spray gun and/or brush to apply paint
